children abuse

Micky, fom Kieran’s kingdom has opened a new blog about Surviving Childhood Abuse. It’s a question everybody should think about. Here is what he wrote me to introduce it, it’s probably better than what I could write about it:

“There’s been a lot in the news from the US recently about bullying in schools and parents who don’t listen or even add to the torment which has led a number of teenagers to kill themselves.

When Malcolm (who also runs a couple of blogs) and I were kids we were the victims of abuse from our fathers and, in Malcolm’s case, from an older boy who forced him into sex when he was only eleven.

The other big story of childhood abuse concerns the activities of apparently many men in the Catholic Church which is facing continuing investigations in several countries across the world.

A couple of weeks ago Malcolm suggested that we start a blog about Surviving Childhood Abuse and this we’ve now done. The idea is to offer first hand accounts of how abuse can affect people’s lives, to report on the current state of childcare, parenting and abuse investigations and also to provide as much help and as many onward contacts as we can to help others come to terms with what may have happened to them or to those who they love.”
